Cookie Policy

This Cookie Policy explains how Ty Newydd Dental Care (the trading name of Jones & Jenkins Dental Surgery) uses cookies and similar technologies on our website, tynewydddentalcare.co.uk.

It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains more about how we handle your personal data.

We use cookies in line with the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR) and the UK GDPR.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit. They are widely used to make websites work, to make them work more efficiently, and to give site owners information about how their site is used.

Some cookies are set by us. Others are set by third-party services we use, such as Google.

Cookies we use

Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are needed for the website to function properly, and they do not require your consent under PECR. They do not track you and cannot be switched off, because the site relies on them.

The only strictly necessary cookie we set is the one that remembers your cookie choices:

CookiePurposeTypical duration
cc_cookieRemembers your cookie preferences so we do not ask you again on every visit, and so we only load analytics and map content if you have agreed to itUp to 6 months

We do not use any other strictly necessary cookies — we do not operate user accounts, logins, or online payments on this website.

Analytics cookies

We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors use our website — for example, which pages are most popular — so that we can improve it. This information is collected and reported in an aggregated way, and we have configured the service so that it does not identify you personally. IP addresses handled by Google Analytics are anonymised and are not stored by us in a form that identifies you.

Typical cookies set by Google Analytics include:

CookiePurposeTypical duration
_gaDistinguishes individual users so that visits can be countedUp to 2 years
_ga_<container-id>Used by Google Analytics 4 to maintain session stateUp to 2 years
_gidDistinguishes users (where present)24 hours

Analytics cookies are only set where you have given your consent. You can withdraw your consent at any time through the "Cookie settings" link in our footer, or through your browser settings.

Third-party cookies — Google Maps

Our Contact section includes an embedded map provided by Google Maps. The map only loads if you accept it through our cookie banner. When it loads, Google may set its own cookies and may receive information about your visit, in line with Google's own privacy and cookie policies (policies.google.com/privacy). Our full address is also shown in plain text, so you do not need to interact with the map.

Enquiry form — JotForm

Our enquiry form is provided by JotForm. When the form loads, JotForm may set its own cookies that are necessary for the form to display and function correctly (for example, to keep your session and guard against spam). These are functional cookies tied to a service you are actively using; they are not used by us for advertising. JotForm's use of cookies is governed by its own privacy and cookie policies (jotform.com/privacy).

A note about our promotional pop-up

Our website shows a short promotional message. When you dismiss it, the website remembers your choice for 24 hours so that it does not show again straight away.

This is done using your browser's local storage (an item named tdc_promo_dismissed_until), not a cookie. It simply stores the date and time until which the message should stay hidden. It does not track you, does not identify you, and is not shared with anyone. It is used only to remember that you have dismissed the message.

How to control or disable cookies

You are in control of the cookies on your device. You can:

  • Use the "Cookie settings" link in our footer to review or change your choices at any time.
  • Use your browser settings to block or delete cookies. Most browsers let you refuse cookies, delete cookies already stored, and be warned before a cookie is stored. Please note that blocking some cookies may affect how parts of the website work. Help on managing cookies is available in your browser's support pages.
  • Opt out of Google Analytics across all websites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, available from Google.
  • Clear local storage through your browser's settings if you wish to remove the promotional pop-up preference described above.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the cookies we use or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. Any changes will be published on this page with a revised "last updated" date below.
